Billy Joe Sims, 76, of Mineral Wells, died Sept. 16, 2008, at his residence.Graveside service is 9:30 a.m. Saturday Sept. 20, at the Sturdivant Community Cemetery, Robert D. Herring officiating. He was born Nov. 3, 1931, in Mineral Wells, to Lawrence B. and Elby (Rosie) Rosamond Sims. He served his country in the U.S. Army and later worked for the FEMA disaster relief organization as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator. Billy is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence Derwood and Bobbie Sims of Horseshoe Bay, Texas; nieces and spouses, Pamela Sims-Samford and husband, John, of Arlington, Texas, Frances and Mackey Watkins of Denison, Texas, and Susan Reed of Kiowa, Okla.; nine great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews; and many dear local friends.Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence B. and Elby (Rosie) Sims.
