Mr. Spears was a native and lifelong resident of Wakulla County. He previously managed Simmons Pasture for the Simmons family and also worked at Elberta Crate and Box; and at one time operated his own pulpwood and cattle operation. He loved playing his harmonica. He also attended Ivan Assembly of God Church and formerly attended Tallahassee Congregational Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Linda Stephens of Tallahassee, and Sandra Davis (Jeff), Donna Berry (Billy) and Beverly Gunn, all of Crawfordville; his sister, Edna Wilson of Crawfordville; seven grandchildren, Don Stephens, Jonathan Stephens, Marcia Spivey, Emily Reynolds, Brian Berry, Faith Durrance and Keith A. Gunn, Jr.; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death in 1996 by his wife, Jackie Spears; in 1965 by his daughter, Ernestine Lee; and in 2005 by a son-in-law, Donnie Stephens.
