She was the daughter of William & Mary (Ezell) Parris. She grew to adulthood on her fathers farm in the Buck Creek Church community of Spartanburg County, South Carolina.

She married William Chapman Clement, 23 Dec 1852, Spartanburg County, South Carolina. They moved their family to Grainger County, Tennessee in the late 1860's.

She was the mother of nine known children;
1. John James b-8 Nov 1853
2. Nathan Grover b-24 Aug 1855
3. William Lemuel b-22 May 1857
4. Sarah Jane b-7 Aug 1859
5. Thomas Beauregard b-11 July 1861
6. Mary M. b-25 July 1863
