Virginia Abbitt Burley
MADISON HEIGHTS - Virginia Abbitt Burley, 76, died Friday, March 3, 2006, at her residence. She was the wife of Earl Cleveland Burley.
Born Sept. 12, 1929, in Amherst County, she was a daughter of the late Charles William and Blanche Callahan Abbitt. She was a member of the Madison Heights Christian Church.
She is also survived by a son, William Michael Burley and wife, Kathy, of Powhatan; a daughter, Brenda Burley Kelly and husband, James, of Midlothian; four sisters, Helen Ferneyhough and husband, James, of Monroe, Phyllis Arthur and husband, James, of Rustburg, Lilly Shirley and husband, Charlie, of Marietta, Ga., and Marie Wilkerson of Amherst; two brothers, William C. Abbitt Jr. and wife, Peggy, of Madison Heights, and M.F. Abbitt of Rustburg; four grandchildren, John and Matt Kelly, Sarah Burley and Chris Burley and wife, Kristi; and three great-grandchildren, Samuel, Olivia and Ethan Burley. She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Glenn Burley; and two sisters, Peggy and Nancy Abbitt.
A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, March 6, 2006, at the Madison Heights Christian Church with the Rev. Paul Land officiating.
