Rilla Mae Nesbitt passed away Tuesday, June 11, 1996, at 8:25 p.m. at The Lewis County Nursing Home in Canton, Missouri. She was the fifth of six daughters born to Emmett Marvin and Lucinda Virginia (Throckmorton) Bondurant on April 11, 1907, rural LaBelle, Missouri.

After graduation from LaBelle High School in 1924, she attended college at Fayette, Missouri, and taught school at Maywood, Missouri, for two years. It was there she met George Wilber Nesbitt being united in marriage June 6, 1931, Canton, Missouri.

They made their home in rural Maywood for five years at which time they moved to Eugene, Oregon, for a short time. After returning to rural LaGrange, Missouri, early 1938 found them moving back to Oregon, this time to Springfield. January 1946 they moved to the present location, rural Williamstown, Missouri, where she continued to live until her health failed, September 1995. Since that time she has resided at The Lewis County Nursing Home, Canton, Missouri.

Rilla became a member of the Methodist Church at an early age and was a member of the Bunker Hill Christian Church at the time of her death. She taught Sunday School for many years and lived her faith in Christ. She has been a long time member of the Wednesday Club and the Bunker Hill Farm Club.

Preceding her in death were her husband, George, April 5, 1989; her parents; and two sisters, Evileen and Julia.

Survivors include one daughter, Virginia Lewis and her husband Marvin of Ruskin, Nebraska; one son, Hubert of Williamstown, Missouri; one granddaughter, Letha V. (Lewis) Kunkel and her husband Tom of Omaha, Nebraska; two grandsons, Jerald M. Lewis and his wife JoAnn of West Point, Nebraska, and Neal A. Lewis and his wife Marcy of Roswell, Georgia; three great grandchildren, Robert Lewis, Grace Anne Kunkel and Erica Jo Lewis; three sisters, Leona Fisher of LaBelle, Missouri, Letha Pierce of Springfield, Missouri, and Anna Lou Chaney of Colusa, Illinois; one niece; three nephews; other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 15, at 10:30 a.m. at Arnold Funeral Home in Canton, Missouri, with Rev. S. Milton Wood officiating. Burial was in Maywood Cemetery.
