Fred Vincent Meredith, 81, 215 N. Broad St., Waxhaw, NC, formerly of 1111 Broad St., Elizabethton, died Friday in the Charlotte Memorial Hospital, Charlotte, NC following a brief illness.
A native of Carter Co., he was the son of the late James R. & Ladora Mae Hyder Meredith. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
Mr. Meredith was employed as assistant shipping clerk for 10 years, Decatur, IL at Terrie's Brass & Electric Co. & was employed as supervisor in the chemical division at Bemberg Corp. where he worked for 38 years. He was a member of Dashiell Masonic Lodge No. 238 A.F.&A.M.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter in 1951.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Vergie Mann Meredith, of the home; 1 daughter, Mrs. Marilyn Meredith Boyd, Waxhaw, NC; & 1 sister, Mrs. Aaron (Ruth) Sams, Greenwood, SC. Several nieces & nephews also survive.

Ron Owens officiating. Interment will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Dale Mann, Kenneth Mann, Jerry Mann, Jack Mann, Richard Arnett & Dr. David Slagle. The family will receive friends in the Riverside Chapel from 4-6 p.m. Sunday & other times at the home of a brother-in-law, Dayton Mann, Rt. 7, Elizabethton.
