Jacob Saxe was born 2 Aug 1783 at Rheinbeck, Dutchess, NY and was the 7th son born to John Saxe (1733-1808) and Catherine Weaver (1744-91).
He settled at Plattsburg, New York, where he was at one time engaged as an iron founder at the mouth of the Salmon river, and after years of great activity and financial reverses, he returned to Vermont, spending his declining years on a farm at Sheldon, Vermont.
He married Rowena Keith, December 23, 1812, Rowena, eldest daughter of Alfred Keith, born March 31, 1794, at Pittsford, Vermont, and died March 25, 1873, at Sheldon, Vermont.
