Viola Ahern died at the Red Cross hospital in Salida, Colorado, on April 2, 1937. She was born in Brown, Kansas, on September 11, 1905 to Thomas Joseph and Martha I "Mattie" Cover McCloskey. The family resided in Walnut Grove township, Neosho county, Kansas. After graduating in 1923 from Walnut High School, she taught for two terms in a school near St. Paul, Kansas. She completed Nurse Training at Red Cross hospital in 1926 and worked there until she married Timothy J Ahern July 3, 1934.

She is survived by her husband, Timothy J Ahern, Jr. and her infant son, Timothy Rodman Ahern who was born March 5, 1937. She is also survived by her mother, Mrs. Mattie McCloskey, Walnut, Kansas; six sisters, Mrs. Blanche Whelan, Mrs. Rose Kennedy, Miss Helen Frances McCloskey, Miss Cleo McCloskey, Miss Ruth McCloskey of Walnut, Kansas, and Mrs. Claire Dunlap of Plains, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas McCloskey, in July 1936.

Funeral services were held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at 9 o'clock Monday, April 5, 1937, officiated by the Rev. M. Schneider, O. P.. Pallbearers were Robert J Reardon, John Surber, Harry Fitzpatrick, Tom Milton, Leslie McAbee and Robert Anderson. Interment was at Fairview cemetery in Salida, Colorado.
