Major JOHN FREEMORE ORLANDO HOWELL

John Freemore Orlando Howell was born April 3, 1885 in Missouri. It is believed that he was given the name Freemore to honor his maternal grandfather, whose name was John Atkinson Freemole. His mother's maiden name has been recorded as Freemole, Freemore, and Fermoyle. Orlando is the first name of his paternal grandfather.

John F. O. Howell was married to Willa Ann "Mama Lo" Williams on November 17, 1909 in Kansas City, Missouri. Willa was born on August 25, 1888 in Arkansas, the daughter of William Williams and Sarah E (James) Williams. See Willa's Find A Grave Memorial for more information about her family.

John and Willa had one son, John Allen Howell, born July 25, 1911 in Burlington, Coffey County, Kansas. John was married to Margaret O Sharp on September 4, 1934. They were the parents of a son and daughter, both of whom are living.


John Allen Howell died on May 3, 1951 in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan at the age of 39. Margaret passed away on August 13, 1983. Their mortal remains were laid in the Glen Eden Memorial Park in Livoinia, Wayne County, Michigan.

John F. O. Howell received a degree in medicine from Washington University in Saint Louis, Missouri and was a practicing physician and surgeon.
