Susie Hulbert Booth was the daughter of William Absalom Booth and Caroline Rosina Carrie Booth of Cobb County, GA. She grew up on what is now called North Booth Rd., Kennesaw, GA, which lies near Bells Ferry Rd. (This area was once Booth Family land.) She attended Bessie Tift College (a Christian Women's College now called Tift College) in Forsyth, Georgia and was a school teacher for several years before her marriage.

Susie Booth was named in honor of her aunt, Susan Augusta Hulbert who lived in Augusta, GA.

On November 8, 1914, Susie Hulbert Booth married Madison Palmer Hairston in Cobb County, GA. They had four children: Jeanette Carrie, Byron Booth, Susan Frances and Charles Madison Hairston.

The Hairston's lived at Kennesaw, Dublin and Rome, Georgia. In Kennesaw, they lived on Pine Mountain Rd. (The home is still standing.)In Dublin, GA they lived there briefly and it was where my grandfather, Byron Booth Hairston was born in 1918. After 1918, the Hairston's moved back to Cobb County.

On moving to Rome in 1928, the Hairston's were members of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church and Susie was a Sunday School teacher there.
