"Pal" as he was affectionately known in his family, married, Susie Hulbert Booth, November 8, 1914, in Cobb County, GA. They had four children: Jeanette Carrie, Byron Booth, Susan Frances and Charles Madison Hairston.
M.P. Hairston was ordained a Baptist Minister in 1923 and had served pastorates at Friendship Baptist Church, State Line Baptist, Bethel Baptist, Armuchee Baptist, Floyd Springs Baptist, and the Farrell, Alabama Baptist Church. He was also a retired merchant, having been engaged in the mercantile business for 60 years prior to retirement.
M.P. Hairston was a member of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church and for several years taught an Adult Sunday School Class there.
