A portion of Mr. Lichte's obituary, translated from German follows:
Br. Heinrich Lichte, born on Dec. 25-1817 in Jafeld [Gohfeld] … passed away on August-14 1893 believing firmly in the triumph of the Christian faith. In 1858 he came from Germany ... and made his home here in Montgomery Co., Mo., where his wife Louisa, nee Krimmal, died. A year after her death he married the widowed Carolina Paulsmeyer, who is now mourning his death. This marriage was a happy one also. In 1877 he joined our church, and until the end he was a faithful and sincere member honored by everyone within the church and community. For many years he served with dignity as a trustee of our church. For three years he suffered from chronic diarrhea but bore his affliction with patience and resignation. Yet his longing for entry into the triumphant church was so great that he was afraid he was committing a sin and that he might be considered impatient. Now the good Lord has gratified his yearnings for always. Besides his wife and two children and five grandchildren from his first marriage, seven stepchildren and their children mourn his death, most of them in hope for a blessed reunion.
