At the time he left Sweden, the name was spelled with a "V" instead of a "U" - Dahlqvist. To this day, our cousins in Sweden spell the name Dahlqvist. I believe the family who came to the U.S. changed the spelling to Dahlquist because it was easier for people to pronounce. If anyone knows another reason for the change please let me know.
