William Arthur Grantham, was the son of the late Coley Grantham and Maggie Leila Arnold Grantham. He moved to Colquitt County in the 1930's and began farming. He was always interested in agriculture and taught his sons and grandsons the love of farming, his family said. He was an avid fisherman and was lovingly known as "Catfish" by his friends, they also said. He served as a deacon of Cool Springs Baptist Church for nearly 50 years. "He had a deep love for family, friends and neighbors, and he was loved by them as well. He always enjoyed serving others in his community," his family remembered.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Annette Lightfoot Grantham; his second wife, Dovie Lee Grantham; one daughter, Sandra Grantham; one son, William "Jerry" Grantham; two sisters, Mary Lee Allen and Martha Itson; three brothers, Jim Grantham, Gus Grantham and Bernam Grantham; and three grandchildren, Kenneth Grantham, Sam Summerlin and Jennifer Grantham.

Survivors include two sons, Doyle and Robert; two daughters, Barbara and Brenda; 11 grandchildren, Missy, Tina, Lisa, Julie, Mindy, Will, Betsy, David, Bradley and Erica; 14 great-grandchildren, Jason, Brooke, Colby, Katelind, Clay, Rebecca, Rose, Nathan, Adam, Thomas, Waylon, Cal, Cade and Brody; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
