Worked as a managing partner with Harns and Elliott Accounting Firm in Belvidere. In 1972, the firm merged with Pollard and Wheeler. He recently maintained his own accounting practice. A U.S. Army Air Corps veteran during World War II, spending two years on the China-Burma-India campaign. Graduate of the University of Illinois. Member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. Former member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, University of Illinois Alumni Association and Illinois CPA Society. An avid sportsman, he helped organize the first chapter of Ducks Unlimited in Belvidere. He enjoyed hunting and fishing at his cabin in Canada and cherished the moments with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian; children, Diane Elliott of Champaign, Deborah (James) Wagner of Granger, IN, and John (Annette) Elliott of Rice, MN; grandchildren, Jessica and Elizabeth Weaver, Catherine, Emily and Laura Wagner and Joshua and Rebecca Elliott; brother, Alvin (Loretta) Elliott of Fond du Lac, WI; and three newphews. Predeceased by parents, one brother and two sisters.
Services are at 10:30am Wednesday, April 18, in Redeemer Lutheran Church, 827 16th Street, with the Rev. H. Rub officiating. Burial will be in McHenry County Memorial Park. Visitation from 5pm to 7pm, April 17, in Fred C. Olson Funeral Chapels, 1001 Second Avenue. Memorials to Redeemer Lutheran Church Radio Mission or to the family for a memorial to be established in Harold's honor. 4-15-3.
