Lillian Elliott, 93, recently of Mishawaka, IN, passed away on October 22, 2019. Born on June 29, 1926 in Woodstock, IL, the youngest of the nine children of John and Elizabeth (Schiller) Musser. She was a graduate of Woodstock High School, spending her senior year working at the Auto Light Factory on behalf of the “war effort.”

She later attended Vogue School of Design in Chicago and was a sales associate at the State Street Marshall Field’s to pay the tuition. The hour commute to downtown Chicago became too much, so she became a bank teller in Woodstock where she could walk to work. How fortuitous for Harold Elliott, who deposited his weekly paycheck from the Woodstock Sentinel there. She caught his eye, as the saying goes, and he asked one of her brothers for an introduction. Lillian married Harold G. Elliott on July 26, 1952 in Woodstock, IL, but they soon moved to Rockford, IL, where they spent the next 52 years together. He predeceased her on April 13, 2001.

Lillian had many interests and pursuits, but put her beloved family first and spent most of her time and effort caring for others. She enjoyed watercolor painting. She was an avid bowler. As a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, she served on the Ladies Aide committee. She served as a member of the Spafford and North Suburban Women’s Clubs of Rockford. She was employed for 25 years in customer service at Berger’s. Through these experiences, she cultivated many lifelong friends who were hard to leave behind when she had to embark on the last chapter of a long life and move to Indiana to be near her daughter, Deborah and her family. In her new surroundings, she put her best foot forward. She made new friends while learning new games - Sequence, Phase 10, Euchre, Wii bowling and bingo. For a woman who lost her own mother at the age of 9, how blessed we were to have her all these years.

Survived by her children, Diane Elliott, Dekalb, Deborah (James) Wagner, Granger, IN, and John (Annette) Elliott, Rice, MN.; grandchildren, Jessica (Joe Ahmed) Weaver and Elizabeth Weaver, Catherine (David) Miller, Emily, Laura, and Grace Wagner, Joshua, Rebecca and Zachary Elliott, and great grandchildren Zarina Ahmed and Everett Miller. Predeceased by her parents; sisters, Mary and Caroline; brothers, Matthew, John, William, Joe, Elmer and Harold, and half-sister Elizabeth.

Funeral services for Lillian will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, in Redeemer Lutheran Church, 827 16th St., Rockford, Illinois, with Pastor Kevin Olson officiating. Visitation will be at 10:00am prior to the service. Graveside services and burial will follow at McHenry County Cemetery, Woodstock, IL.
