Uncle Will was tall and slender with black hair and brown eyes. He was the constable of Ross Township, Cherokee County, Kansas prior to his death.

He died during the flu epidemic of 1918/1919, one day before his second wife, Jennie Thompson Ziegra Oltmanns, died. She is buried in Hosey Hill Cemetery with her first husband John Ziegra.

THREE ARE DEAD IN MINERAL

Second Attack of Influenza in the Mining Town.

Three deaths have occurred in West Mineral during the past week from influenza and this town, which for several weeks past has been nearly entirely free from epidemic cases, now has a number that are of a very serious nature.

Two deaths have occurred in the William Oltman family and two children are critically ill with the disease. William Oltman died Monday morning after an illness of but a few days. When Mr. Oltman died Mrs. Oltman was very ill with the disease and she also died Tuesday morning. Funeral services were held for William Oltman Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Oltman’s funeral will be held this afternoon.

The first death to occur in the present outbreak was when Mrs. Duart Allen died. Her death occurred last Friday. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. A. J. Bradshaw of this city. Mr. Allen and a young son are quite ill at the present time.

It is reported that a number of other persons in West Mineral are in a dangerous condition from influenza.
