STUARTS DRAFT – Doctu Austin “Dock” Dameron, 66, of Route 2, Box 140, Stuarts Draft, was dead on arrival at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Waynesboro Community Hospital. Mr. Dameron was born in Nelson County June 20, 1910, a son of the late Charles Monroe and Mattie Sheppard Truslow Dameron.

He served with the U.S Army in World War II and was the retired owner and operator of Dameron’s Grocery Store in Stuarts Draft. He was a member of Stuarts Draft Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Catherine E. Lamb Dameron; one daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Roxanne Yvonne) Dameron of Waynesboro; one step-son, Raymond G. McKay of Stuarts Draft; three step-daughters, Mrs. Christine M. Ellinger of Route 2, Waynesboro, Mrs. Frank (Clementine) Campbell of Stuarts Draft, and Mrs. Gene (Rosa Lee) Griffin of Green Cove Springs, Fla.; one sister, Mrs. Luther (Bara) Hall of Norfolk; one brother, Claude Dameron of Norfolk; nine step-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Chapel of the Etter Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Charles C. Ramsey, with burial in Calvary United Methodist Church cemetery in Stuarts Draft.

Active pallbearers will be Allen Monroe, John England, Harold Seaman, Harold Fretwell, Harley Tillman, Pete Painter and Brooks Griffin.

The body will remain at the Etter Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight.
