Charlie Monroe Dameron, 75, died at 2:05 p.m. yesterday (May 25, 1948) at his home near Stuarts Draft. He had been a resident in the community for part 30 years. Deceased was born June 2, 1872, the son of the late Doctus and Margaret Newton Dameron. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mattie Shepherd Dameron: four daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Fretwell, Mrs. Ruby Patterson, and Mrs. Blanche Brooks, all of Stuarts Draft, and Mrs. Bara Hall of Norfolk: five sons, Lawrence, Claude, William, Donnie, and Austin, all of Stuarts Draft: two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Mayo, Waynesboro; and Mrs. Basham Dedmek, of Stuarts Draft: and a number of grandchildren. Remains will rest at Etter Funeral Home until the time of service, which will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the Valley View Mennonite Church. Service will be conducted by Rev. Harvey Ashby. Interment will be in church cemetery. Friends and family will meet at the church. Active pallbears will be M. H. Hall, Sandy Brooks, Otho Humphrey, Leslie Griffin, Floyd Thacker, and William Tillman. Honorary bearers will be grandchildren of the deceased.
