Wingate Henry Truitt was married twice. His first wife was Susan Elizabeth Clark and they had four children. Wingate remarried after her death and he and Martha 'Mattie' Ellen Lilley Truitt had eight children. They lived in Jenkins, Texas just south of Dangerfield.
Wingate moved his large family to Greenwood, TX in Wise Co in 1900. He settled on the Lower Bar 70 ranch.
