Glendena (Harlan) Adams, 90, of Bethany, Oklahoma, went to her heavenly home on May 18, 2019. She was born to Doyle and Ruth (Bonnett) Harlan in Blackwell, OK, on December 31, 1928. She was affectionately known as Dena and spent her early years on the family farm in Kay County. Dena graduated from Blackwell High School in 1946, and moved to Bethany, OK, to attend Bethany Peniel College where she majored in music. She fell in love and married Gene Adams during her college years. They began raising a family and attending Bethany First Church of the Nazarene. Gene and Dena lived in Alva, OK, Oak Grove, LA, and Dallas, TX, where Gene completed his degree to be a funeral director. Dena enjoyed playing the church organ and piano for many small churches they attended. They then returned to Bethany in 1962, to start their careers in the funeral business. Dena felt as called to the funeral profession as Gene did . Her desire to serve and comfort families in their grief led her to work alongside him until they retired in 1997.

Dena loved to work with senior adults each summer in Glorieta, NM. She always came home inspired by the seniors that they served. Dena also loved SNU basketball, as she and Gene supported the team as active Benchwarmers. They spent many summers in Lake City, CO, and on Lake Tenkiller vacationing with their family.

Gene and Dena, otherwise known as Grandad and Mamo, were blessed with 3 daughters, 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. The joy of her life was to amuse her grandchildren by singing silly songs, playing fun games and making paper airplanes. She loved to entertain and always made others feel welcome in their home.

Dena was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Gene Adams, of 53 years. She is survived by her brother and sister in law, Jerry and Shirley Harlan of Blackwell; children, Tammie (Jim) Dunn, Brenda (Kevin) Teeters, and Janice (Kerry) Albright, 8 grandchildren: Lezli, Lorrie, Elizabeth, Jeff, Hannah, Cameron, Clay, Sophie; 6 Great-grandchildren: Bailey, Dylan, Savannah, Libby, Gauge and Theo.
