The Rev. E. B. Jenkins, her pastor, was in charge and read portions of the Scripture from Proverbs and St. John. With C. W. Keeter leading and Mrs. Ross Hill at the piano, the choir sang "Shall We Gather at the River" and "Over There". the pallbearers were Joe Hodge, Gus Miller, M. Y. Tate, C. W. Keeter, Ed McFarland and Spain Hodge. There were masses of beautiful flowers sent by friends and loved ones and interment was made on August 4 in the City Cemetery.
The deceased was born in Orange County, NC on December 18, 1884, was forty-five years of age, and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Cole. On December 26, 1906, she was married to Horace C. Elliott, at which time she came to Rutherford County and had made her home here since that time.
She is survived by her husband, who is in very ill health and was unable to attend the burial service, and her mother, Mrs. John F. Lamb of Silver City, three children, Horace Elliott, Jr., of Hempstead, TX and at present is with his father; two daughters, Ruby and Grace Elliott, both at home; two sisters, Mrs. Roy Brown and Mrs. Finlay Spear of Chapel Hill; three brothers, Robert Cole of Burlington, John Cole of Raleigh, and Thomas Cole of Pinehurst.
Burial was made beside her two children, Louise and Wade Elliott, who preceded their mother to the grave. Hovis and Keeter were in charge of the arrangements.
