Mr. Horace C. Elliott died at his home near town Monday morning about 3:30 o'clock. He took seriously ill Saturday afternoon but had been in ill health for more than a year.
Funeral services were held at his home Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock with his pastor, Rev. E. B. Jenkins in charge and interment followed in the Rutherfordton Cemetery.
Mr. Elliott is survived by one son, Horace, Jr. and two daughters, Misses Ruby and Grace Elliott, all at home; five brothers, Messer's: Ed, Grady, and Remus Elliott, all of Jacksonville, TX; Romeo Elliott of Oklahoma City, OK, and J. L. Elliott, of Gem, KS; and two sisters, Mrs. Charles Stewart, Rutherfordton, NC and Mrs. Bessie Milan of Alexandria, VA. The brothers were unable to come her for the funeral services.
Mr. Elliott was 51 years of age and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rutherfordton. He formerly practiced law and attended the State University.
Mrs. Elliott died on August 1st and buried August 3rd, just ten days before Mr. Elliott's burial.
Pallbearers were: Messer's J. M. Hodge, A. F. Miller, M. Y. Tate, C. W. Keeler, Ed McFarland and Spain Hodge.
