Mary W Pelton was the daughter of Asahel Pelton and Anna Denio. She married Lyman Pelton 23 Sep 1830 in Middlefield, Hampshire, Massachusetts.

Mary and Lyman were first cousins, both being grandchildren of Ithamar Pelton and Asenath Pratt. Per the "History of Medina County, Ohio" in May 1832, "41 persons came into the township (of Litchfield) in one day. Of that number, Messrs. Crow, Holladay, Wheeler, PELTONs and their families comprised a part. July 4, 1832, was celebrated by settlers of Litchfield meeting, selecting a site, cutting and hauling logs, and building a log meeting house. Women provided food --- and at same place and time formed a Temperance and Moral Reform Society."

The Peltons included at least Lyman and Mary, their oldest son, Richard, and Lyman's parents, Ithamar, Jr. and Charlotte (Starr), as both died in Litchfield; also, his siblings, Dexter, Sarah, Worthington, Cyprian, Philander and Clarissa.

Michigan Genealogical Death Indexing system shows Mary Pelton as a white female, widowed, born New York, parents Ithamer and Ann Pelton, died 16 Jan 1885 Mason, Ingham County, Michigan at the age of 76 years old, cause of death, Rheumatism Age.

Note: The death record for Mary Pelton states that her father was Ithamar Pelton. However, we all know that correctness can only depend upon the person giving the information at the time of death.

Mary's birth record in Windsor, Berkshire County, Massachusetts states her father as Asahel Pelton. The "Genealogy of the Pelton Family in America" (1892)book also states this.
