Mrs. Emily G. Smith, 67, wife of Grant L. Smith, 140 North Broad St., Hughesville, died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 1983 in her home. She was born Dec. 13, 1915 at Hughesville, a daughter of Charles O and Harriet M Wintersteen Grittner.
Mrs. Smith was a former employee of Carey McFalls at Montoursville and the Grittner Hardware Store, Hughesville, which was operated by a brother, William Grittner. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hughesville.
Surviving are her husband whom she married 36 years ago on July 3, 1947; a son, Wayne A., Hughesville RD 2; a daughter, Mrs. Ellen D Wise, Troy RD1 and three grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, J. Max Grittner, Milton and a twin sister Mrs. Evelyn L. Reeder, Chicago, IL. Her older brother, William Grittner, proceeded her in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, from the church, Main and Academy Sts., Hughesville. Officiating will be the Rev. George D. Doran and interment will be made in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville. Friends may call at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, Hughesville, from 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.
