On April 23, 1910, John, shown as Henry, age 47, & Jennie, 36, were buying a farm in Otterville. they had been married 12 years, & Jennie had given birth to 5 children who were still living. John's children by his first marriage living with them were: Nancy, age 18; Claud, 16; & Charley, 14.
Their children were: Nora L., age 11; Mary, 9; Elmer, 7; Edna B., 4; & Guy, 1 year & 5 months.

John was separated from Jennie & was the owner of Jackson Tavern in Kansas City in Kaw Township, Jackson Co, MO. He was living with his son, Claude Bryan, at 2715 Denver Avenue when he died at 11 p.m. on May 17, 1939. Death was from multiple heart problems: Coronary Sclerosis, Acute & Chronic Coronary Occlusion, & Acute & Chronic Myocardial Infarction. He had lived 75 years, 2 months, & 25 days.
Claude Bryan was the informant on his death certificate. His body was transported to Otterville for burial on May 19.
