Funeral for Luther Hampton, 81, of Decatur will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Thomas officiating.
Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mr. Hampton died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Dec. 25, 1918, in Lawrence County to Jim Hampton and Lou Borden Hampton. He was the widower of Nelsie Mae Hampton and was retired from Pullman Inc.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Smithey of Dallas; a half sister, Annie Mae Cain of Detroit, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
