TREMONT - James K. "Chinch-bug" Rapp, 78, of Tremont, died at 10:20 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006, at Timber Creek Rehab and Health Care in Pekin.
He was born Aug. 4, 1928, in Tremont to Adam William and Edith Anna Riggs Rapp. He married Doris J. Atchison on March 22, 1980. She died March 21, 1997.
He also was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Surviving are one stepson, Kenneth (Darby) Atchison of Mason, Ohio; one stepdaughter, Dianne (Steven) Adams of Dublin, Ohio; four stepgrandchildren; one brother, Joseph D. (Barb) Rapp of Jacksonville; and four sisters, Frances Ruth Widmer of East Peoria, June Smith of Peoria, Joan Callahan and Mary Lou (Gerald "Jerry") Stecken, both of Pekin.
Rapp worked at Morton Pottery in Morton, Ben Bolliger Excavating in Tremont and Cross Implement in Minier. He also owned and operated Rapp License & Tax Service in Tremont.
He was a member of Tremont United Methodist Church.
He served as past master of Tremont Masonic Lodge 462. He also was a member of Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Peoria; and Mohammed Temple Shrine; Lafayette Lodge 216 in Pekin; Morton Chapter 974 Order of Eastern Star; Queen Christina Court 4 Order of Amaranth, Peoria Heights; The Order of the Victoria White Shrine of Jerusalem 83; Royal Arch Masons of Illinois, Pekin Chapter 25 RAM; Cryptic Masons of Illinois, Canton Council 23; and Knights of the York Cross of Honour, Illinois Priory 11.
Rapp and his wife were honored as grand marshals of 30th annual Tremont Turkey Festival in 1995.
