Richard Mawhorter 73, of Greenhills, Oh., died at his residence July 26, 2001. He was born April 8, 1928 in Wawaka, the son of T.J. and Agnes (Evans) Mawhorter. He graduated from Wawaka High School and attended Northwestern University. He served in the U.S. Navy 1946-1954. On October 19, 1952 he married Louis Hjelm. He was a corporate office of Ohio National Life Co. for 24 years, retiring in 1989. Surviving are his wife; 2 sons, Richard (Jennifer) and Steven (Carolyn); one daughter, Jeanne (Chris) Stewart; 9 grandchildren, Sarah, Peter, John, Ross, Christopher, Michael and Jenny Mawhorter and Anna and Claire Stewart; one brother, Edward (Mary); and 2 sisters, Dorothy (Duane) Lehman and Sarah (Stephen) Early. He was preceded in death by a brother, T.J. Jr. Funeral July 31 at Cosperville Baptist Church. Burial, Cosperville Cemetery
