Born to Alton Dewey and Emma Lucie Maurine (Harper) Bell in Corpus Christi, she grew up in Aransas Pass and graduated from Aransas Pass High School (APHS).
She worked as a secretary for Aransas County and San Patricio County. She was a member of the APHS Alumni. She moved from Aransas Pass to Orange, Texas fourteen years ago.
She was preceded in death by parents, and a brother Merwin Dewey Bell.
Survivors include her husband, James C. Cotten, three sons, Steven amd wife Mary Lynn Turner, Jay Cotten and Jerry Cotten, two daughters, Karen and husband Richard Parsons and Lucy Rucker, thirteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
