Mary Sulzen, the fifth child born to Adolph and Susan (Klaus) Sulzen was born in 1869 at Lecompton, Douglas County, Kansas. She was listed in the 1870 United States Census as being 8 months old; however she does not appear in subsequent census records with her parents and other siblings in the 1875 census. It is therefore believed she died before 5 years of age, and may be one of several children known to be buried in unmarked graves on the homestead belonging to her mother's parents William and Elizabeth Klaus in Lecompton, Kansas.
