"Gene 'E.A.' Albracht, 87, of Amarillo died Tuesday, June 24, 2003 - Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in St. Stephen United Methodist Church with Dr. Jim Smith, senior pastor, Craig Albracht and Cory Albracht officiating. Private family burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street.

Dr. Albracht was born in Nazareth and attended Subiaco High School and College. He moved to Hereford where he farmed from 1939 to 1952. He attended Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa, and later transferred to Texas Chiropractic College in San Antonio. After receiving his doctor of chiropractic degree, he returned to Hereford, where he practiced for one year. He then established Albracht Chiropractic Clinic in Amarillo in 1956. He was later joined by several of his sons in the practice. He retired in 1991.

While in Hereford, he directed the choir at St. Anthony's Catholic Church for 15 years. He was a member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church and a life member of Texas Chiropractic Association.

He married Emmarie Mary Hoffman on July 25, 1939, in Hereford. She preceded him in death on April 21, 1976. After her death, he maried Mary Jo Martin in August 1976 in Amarillo.

He was preceded in death by his first wife; and a son, Dr. Rod Albracht.

Survivors include his wife; four sons...; a stepson...; two stepdaughters...; two brothers...; two sisters...; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren."
