He married December 26, 1932 in Salem, to Gwendolyn Genevieve Fields.
He was a member of the United Freewill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon since 1957. He was a carpenter and farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Geneviece Caldwell, West Plains, MO; two children, Eula Jean Peterson and her husband, Alvin of Okawville, IL, and Sheila Lou Peterson of West Plains, MO; seven grandchildren, Terri Skiff, Alton, IL, Linda Tellus, Okawville, IL, Susan Stern, Carbondale, IL, David Peterson, Jefferson City, MO, Carol Cantu, San Antonio, TX, Karen Cole, Goldsboro, NC, and Billy Bell, St. Charles, MO; 10 great grandchildren; one brother, Lloyd M. "Buster" Caldwell and his wife Ruth of Thayer, MO; one sister-in-law, Martha Caldwell, West Plains, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant daughter, Brenda Kay Caldwell; and two brothers, Boots Caldwell and Teddy George Caldwell.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 25, 1994 at 2 pm at the United Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Glenn Murray officiating. Organist was Rachel Murray with singing by Jeff Tison, Tim Tilson, Eudene Adkisson, and Scott Real.
Pallbearers were Clifford Parrett, Norman Carte, Morgan Whitsell, Richard King, Stanley Taylor, and David Uhlman.
Buiral was in the Howell Memorial Park Cemetery, Howell County, MO under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home, Inc. of Thayer, MO.
