FROM THE JEFFERSON CO. BOOK:
James Buzard was born April 24, 1812 in Armstrong County, Pa., and died April 14, 182, ten days before the seventieth anniversary of his birth. Between 1837 and 1839, he located in Clarion County, PA., before the seventieth anniversary of his birth. Between 1837 and 1839, he located in Clarion County, PA., removing thence about 1853-55 to Jefferson County and making a permanent settlement in Elfred Twp., upon the place where his son Joseph was born. Here he owned 146 acres, all of which was in the pine woods when it came into his possession, and during his lifetime seventy acres were brought under cultivation. He was active to the end of is days and not only looked well after his own interests, but also took part in the public affairs of the locality, serving as supervisor and in other township offices. His farm is now owned by strangers and has undergone considerable change, the old buildings having made way for modern structures in keeping with the demands of the times. Mr. Buzard was a Democrat in politics and a zealous Methodist in religious faith, belonging to the Roberts M.E. Chapel at Kahletown, near his home, which he helped to build and in whose work he was ever active. He is buried there.

His wife, born, Nov. 21, 1816, in Indiana County, this State, died June 25, 1888. They had the following chiildren: John Buzard, who died at home at the age of twenty-seven years as the result of a gunshot injury received during the Civil war, through which h served on the Union side; Reynolds Lawrence Buzard, who died in 1903 at Hollywood California, in his day one of the most successful lumbermen in this section of the country; Isaac Henry Buzard, now a resident of Greenville, Clarion County, Pa., who also served through the Civil War; Samuel Buzard, who died at the age of fifty-five years; Benjamin Buzard, who left this section in middle life and has not been heard from since; James Buzard of Strattonville, Pa., a successful lumberman and farmer; Mary Elizabeth Buzard, who married John Anthony, of Eldred Township and died when fifty-five years old; Rachel Buzard, who married John Miller of Clarion, PA.; Joseph, mentioned below; and Martha Jane Buzard, Mrs. Fisher, now a widow living at Shippensville, PA.
