First Lady of Nebraska 1917-1919, wife of Governor Morell Keith Neville. Her husband's father was US Congressman William Harryman Neville and her husband's mother was Mary Ann "Mollie" Keith.
Marie was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution. She was the mother of Mary Nelson; Frances Elizabeth; Virginia Neill; and Irene Morell. Irene was born in the governors mansion in Lincoln in 1918.
After her husband died in 1959, Marie lived to her 97th year, and most of those years were active. She maintained her home in North Platte and her winter home in Pass-a-Grille Beach, Florida. In 1963 she was chosen as North Platte's Mother of the Year, and in 1976 she was honored in Lincoln at a luncheon given by the Governor and Bicentennial committee of the American Mothers Association. She also was listed as a Notable Living Nebraskan in the book; Out Standing Women of Nebraska, 1776-1976. She was active in several private and political clubs and in the Episcopal Church, where she taught Sunday School. During WWII, she volunteered in North Platte's famous Canteen, giving food, drink, and cheer to the military on their way to the war.
