He graduated from Chenoa High School in 1950. Marvin studied pre-professional education at Northeast Missouri State Teachers College (now Truman State University) and then graduated from the Kansas City College of Osteopathy & Surgery in 1957.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Joseph Vercler in infancy and grandson, Zackary Edward Lusk.
