Samuel Weston "Dub" Foster Jr was born on 9 December 1912 in Beaumont, Texas, to Sam Weston Foster Sr and Vibella Martha McGary. He was christened, around 1912-1913, at the First Methodist Church in Beaumont. Dub studied economics and worked for his father as a printer at Foster's Print Shop. He enlisted in the US Navy the day after the attack on Pearl Harbor and served as a pay clerk during World War II. He was stationed at the Naval Air Station in San Diego, California, and the Pacific Fleet School in Gulf Port, Mississippi. Dub married Mary Katherine Posey, 12 September 1945, at the First Methodist Church in Beaumont. They lived at 2380 South Street in Beaumont and raised three children. Later in life, Dub and Mary lived in Houston, Texas. Dub died, 28 September 2000, aged 87, in Houston, and was buried with his wife at Houston National Cemetery.
