RALPH S. MAGNUSON
Ralph S. Magnuson, 83, of Sycamore, Ill., passed away Monday, Nov. 28, 2005, at DeKalb County Rehab & Nursing Center in DeKalb. Born July 31, 1922, in Sycamore, he was the son of Fritz and Bertha (Arnneson) Magnuson. He married Marilyn C. Kittleson on June 1, 1962, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Ralph was the owner and operator of Magnuson Motors in DeKalb and later worked for State Street Motors in Sycamore and Jim Miller Chevrolet in Genoa as an auto salesman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served as a pilot during World War II. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Lee, Ill., where he was an usher for many years. He was a member of Elks Lodge in DeKalb, a former member of the Eagles Club in DeKalb and an avid golfer. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; four children, Susan (John) Mitchell of Monroe, Ga., Gary (Judy) Magnuson of Hudson, Paulette Magnuson of Belvidere and Lori (Ron) Johnson of Sycamore; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Henry (Doris) Magnuson of Kingston and Stan (Ginny) Magnuson of Somonauk; several nieces and nephews; and a brother-in-law, Robert Sabin of Sycamore. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ellis Magnuson; a sister, Barbara Sabin; two grandchildren; a nephew, Kim Magnuson; and his former wife, Dorothy Plapp, the mother of Susan Mitchell and Gary Magnuson. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Lee, with Pastor Wayne Derber officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Steward.
