GEORGE L. CARTER
George Leonidas Carter, son of J. T. and Harriet Arnold Carter, was born in Polk County, Missouri, August 14, 1881; departed this life Saturday, February 15, 1941, in the Lebanon Hospital at Lebanon Missouri, as the result of head and chest injuries received in a car wreck Friday evening, February 14.
He was united in marriage to Miss Hattie Moore in July, 1902. To this union one son, Cecil was born. Both preceded him in death.
On February 26, 1908 he was married to Miss Volina E. Breshears. To this union six children were born. One son, Lloyd passed away at the age of six years.
George was converted and joined the Star Ridge Methodist church in the fall of 1908, later uniting with the Louisburg Christian church.
He was a good neighbor, always helpful in time of sickness and a friend to everyone.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Volina E Carter; two sons, Sergeant Linvel D. Carter of Fort Hoyle, near Baltimore, MD; and Linford Carter of the home; and three daughters, Mrs. Roy Miller of Kansas City, Kansas; Mrs. Arvel Barclay of Polk and Miss Wava Carter of Preston; also two granddaughters; a brother, E. C. Carter of Louisburg, and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his departure.
The funeral was preached Monday, February 17, at the Christian church in Louisburg, Missouri, by the Rev. Luther Hodge. Interment was in the Louisburg cemetery under the direction of Hutcheson & Company.
