Dr. Robert William "Bob" Murphy, 68, passed away on December 20, 2008. Bob was born January 14, 1940 in Wakefield, KS, to William and Alberta Margaret (Taddiken) Murphy. Bob enjoyed reading, teaching, gardening, storytelling, his cats Tigger and Velvet, and most of all taking care of his family. Bob graduated from Clay Center High School and went on to receive his Bachelor's Degree from Washburn University of Topeka, his Master's Degree from Troy State University and his Education Doctorate from Oklahoma State University. Bob was employed by Tetra Tech at Tinker Air Force Base. He was also an adjunct professor for Southeastern State University. Bob was a Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) of Toastmaster's International. For 24 years, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Air force, also serving in the Vietnam War. Before Bob retired, he was an AWACS mission crew commander and instructor. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Sue daughter, Avril Murphy sisters, Susan Berry and husband John, Barbara Newell and husband Gerald nephews, James Berry, Brian Newell niece, Kelly Norberg. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Disability Rights For Technology, 500 Fox Ridge Rd, St. Louis, MO 63131 or www.segs4vets.org. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 27 at the Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel. Military honors will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Choctaw, OK.
