"John Brooks, 85, 622-5th East, died Friday at 3:25 p.m. at his home of natural causes.
He was born July 5, 1861, in Wales, a son of Richard and Mary Jane Haydon Brooks. He had lived in Salt Lake City 70 years. Mr. Brooks was a retired blacksmith for Union Pacific Railroad Co. He had not worked since 1939.
He married Esther Rushton June 14, 1883, and she died in December, 1945. Mr. Brooks was a high priest in Liberty LDS stake, and a member of the North Second LDS ward.
He is survived by three daughters, Irene Brooks, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Esther Morey, Los Angeles, and Mrs. Dora Doble, El Monte, Cal.; two sons, John R. Brooks, Burbank, Cal., and Wilford W. Brooks, Los Angeles; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren."
