William is the son of Richard and Mary Jane Haydon Brooks.

Immigrated to the United States on the ship British King, leaving Liverpool on October 13, 1886, arriving in Philadelphia, PA., October 27, 1886. He brought with him a ten year old child, George A. Brooks.

On April 6, 1887, William's wife, Margaret Jones died. Cause of death: Peritonitis

"BROOKS~ In the fifty-eighth year of his age, William Brooks, son of Richard and Mary Jane Haydon Brooks. Born February 16, 1843, in Devonshire, England; baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when eight years old; came to Utah in 1886; resided at Riverton, Salt Lake County, for eight years.

Deceased leaves an aged mother, two brothers, one sister, three sons, two daughters, thirteen grandchildren.

Funeral will be held from the residence of his daughter, Mrs. D.(Daniel) M.(Morgan) Rachel Bath, 449 north Fifth West Street, Wednesday, May 29th, at 12 o'clock noon. Millennial Star, please copy."

Cause of death: Nephritis, Exhaustion; living at 449 North Fifth West.
