Born in Newport, TN on November 21, 1906. He moved to South Carolina with his family due to jobs in the textile mills. He died on Sunday, January 24, 1982, at his home.
He was know to many as "Mr. Woodchuck" or "Woodchuck" from his CB (Citizen's Band) Radio friends.
He is survived by his sons Charles Floyd Gann of Clinton, SC, and George Gann of Staten Island, NY. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, his brother James Gann, and sister Ola G. Samples. He was predeceased by his parents John Allen and Sarah Elizabeth Hatley Gann, his wife Beatrice Kennedy Gann, and his brothers J. Holbert Gann and George W. Gann.
