Mrs. Martha Morris - Martha Larimer was born in West Moreland County, Pa., November 17th 1845. She was brought by her parents to Lucas County, Iowa, in 1851, and her home was in this county until 1871.

Since then she has resided in Illinois. She was married to Joseph R. Morris, September 3rd, 1868(Lucas County, Iowa). Six children came to bless their home four boys and two girls all of whom are living.

There are also twenty-five grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Shirrer, of Chariton, and four brothers Alexander Larimer, of Humboldt; William LeRoy and Wilson Larimer, of Russell, also survive her.

Mr. Morris passed away February 11, 1913, and since that time her home has been with her daughter, Mrs. Mertie Landis, of Abingdon, Illinois, where she fell asleep August 26th, 1916, being 70 years, 9 months and 9 days old.

Mrs. Morris suffered severely the last six months from cancer, but bore this trial without complaint to the end. When a young girl, some fifty-four years ago, she professed faith in Christ, uniting with the Baptist church of Chariton. Her relatives give her the highest honor of woman. She was a good wife and mother.

Funeral services were held at the Baptist church in Russell on Monday forenoon at 11 o'clock after which interment took place in the Ragtown cemetery.
