James Wallace "Wally" Carrico, 76, of 717 E. 19th St., Owensboro, died Friday, Aug. 4, 2000, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. He was born in Daviess County, retired from General Electric after 43 years and was a World War II Army veteran. He was a longtime member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church, a 47-year member of its St. Vincent DePaul Society; and was a Carmel Home volunteer. He enjoyed University of Kentucky basketball and Atlanta Braves baseball. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Frances Bickwermert Carrico; two sons, James Leon Carrico Sr. and William Bernard Carrico, both of Owensboro; three grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a brother, Thomas L. Carrico of Palmerdale, Ala.; and a sister, Mary Ann Howard of Whitesville. Services are at noon Monday at Blessed Mother Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Monday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Vincent DePaul Society of Blessed Mother Catholic Church, 515 E. 22nd St., Owensboro, KY 42303.
