Charles W. Saulsbury, an old time resident of this community, passed away Thrusday January 1, 1953, at his home at 300 East 5th Street in Lexington, at the age of 79 years, 4 months and 4 days. Funeral services were held at St. Ann's Catholic church on Monday January 5.
Mr. Saulsbury was born near Effingham, Illinois, on August 28, 1873. Charles was the son of William Saulsbury and Emily Jane Craig. His father William died before 1880.
Emily worked as a housekeeper and then married Hiram Conlisk.
As a small boy he moved with his mother and step father to Palisade, At the age of twenty-five he moved to Overton and was engaged in farming there until 1943. He then moved to Lexington where he had since resided.
On February 14, 1900, he was untied in marriage to Fannie A. Cooney, who preceded him in death in 1938. To this union were born two sons and five daughters, all living. There are William T. of Overton; Marie of Lexington; Eleanor Barnes of Omaha; Frances Gillespie of Lexington; B. Edward of Lexington; Mldred O'Brien of Aberdeen Washington and Margaret Delahunty of El Monte, California.
He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Burial was in the St. Ann's cemetery.
