James E Saulsbury was born September 28, 1873 at Springfield, IL. H came to Harve March 20, 1896, and was employed as a brakeman for The Great Northern railway, until June 26, 1900, when he was promoted to conductor, serving in that capacity 34 years.

Mr. Saulsbury was stricken about 1:30 Friday afternoon, and passed away at 11:40 p.m., as his train was leaving Herve.

He was married to Blanche Lambert of Herve, July 25, 1930. To this union, one child Billie Ann, was born, who with his wife, and an adopted son, Jimmie, survive him.

"Saul," as his friends knew him, was known all long the Great Northern between Whitefish and Williston, his long years of service giving him friends and acquaintances in every town, and a knowledge of the early railroad history such as few others have. His service and general life were filled with many acts of kindness, and the traveling public will miss a familiar and courteous figure.

Mr. Saulsbury was a member of the Order of Railway Conductors joining Aug 2, 1902. He was also member of the Elks lodge both of Harve.
