Layton D.Jones,83,resident of Jones,Ok,was born in McLoud,Ok
on Feb.19,1921,and went to be with his Lord on Oct.2,2004.He
attended Jones Schools and wore many hats in his lifetime:
Farmer,police officer,truck driver,maintenance worker for the City of Jones,and contract painter. He retired from
Tinker AFB in 1961 and from Jones Schools in 1994. He proudly served in the Army Air Forces (8/6/42 to 12/31/45)
in World War II with the 5th Airdrome Squadron,8th Air Force as a radio operator stationed in N. Ireland, it was there that he met his future wife, Isabell, who was serving in the British Air Force. Layton always had a garden and love to give away the fruits of his labor. He was a skilled carpenter whose current project was working on his daughter's Christmas presents. He epitomized the Golden Rule
and was always there to help others. He never had an unkind word about anyone. In his younger years he loved to fish, camp, and take "Sunday Drives" with his family. He was a faithful member of the Jones Assembly of God Church, Jones
IOOF Lodge, and Jones Historical Society. Layton was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mandy Jones, three brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Isabell, and for children: Janette and
husband Kenny, Agnes and husband Will of Jones, John Earl and wife Pam of OKC, and Debbie and husband Rick of Tulsa;
11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Neil of Jones and Hollis of Decatur,Tx and sister in law
Helen Jones of Jones. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, friends and his little dog, Susie. He left his family and was most happy when everyone was together.
We love you PaPa and will miss your sharp wit and sense of humor.
Services will be Wednesday, October 6, 2004, at 10 AM at the Jones Assembly of God Church.
The graveside service will follow at Jones IOOF Cemetery.
