Isabell Maureen Cleland Jones,90,of Jones,Ok, passed away July 28, 2012, after being lovingly cared for her daughters for the past nine months. Born in Millisle, County Down, Northern Ireland, on July 2, 1922 to John and Agnes Cleland,
Isabell was a veteran of World War 11 and a member of the Women's Corps of the Royal Air Force of Great Britain. She met her husband, Layton Jones, in N.Ireland during World War II, and they married May 17, 1945. After the war, she left her family and all she knew and sailed to America. She was welcomed with love and friendship by her new sisters- in- law, Velma, Helen, Esther and Grace. After attaining her US citizenship in 1954, Isabell worked for many years as a cook for Jones Public Schools and enjoyed the daily interaction with students. She was a lifetime member of the Jones Rebekah Lodge, where she participated in many acts of community service. Isabell also served as a cook for many summers at Falls Creek with Jones First Baptist Church. Her hobbies included cooking,knitting, embroidery, ceramics and
spoiling her grandkids. She was a member of Christ Church
Carrowdore,N. Ireland. Her husband Layton, preceded her in death; along with her parents; two brothers, Tommy and Jim
Cleland; and a sister, Jean McClelland. She is survived by her daughters, Janette Redding (Kenny), Agnes Jones, and Debbie Lehrter, all of Jones; and a son, John Earl Jones
(Pam) of OKC. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Hackworth, and brother John Cleland(Margaret), both of
N. Ireland; 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews in the US and N. Ireland.
Services will be 10 AM Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at Hibbs Funeral Home, 2190 Harper St., Choctaw,Ok, with interment at Jones IOOF Cemetery. The family wishes to thank Mercy Hospice, especially Doloris and Brenda, for their excellent care of Isabell, as well as Sandy, her faithful mail lady.
