Reola Holt Newbold, age 87, our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend passed away, March 19, 1997, in a local hospital due to natural causes.

Born October 6, 1909 in South Jordan, Utah to Samuel Elijah Holt and Margaret Geneva Beckstead. She married Leo Albert Newbold in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on January 15, 1932. Leo died 40 years ago in 1957. Mother worked hard at several jobs for many years supporting her family after the untimely death of her husband. She was an active lifetime member of the LDS Church. She was very devoted to her family. One of her last journal entries stated, 'When my children and grandchildren come in the door it's like turning on the light.'

Reola is survived by her three sons: Dennis (Deanna); Bruce (Ardith); Richard (Jan), all of South Jordan, Utah; sister, Mabel Nelson; brother, Frank, both South Jordan; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her brothers: Dell, Byrum, Allen, Verl and Von; sisters, Ivy, Orel, Verda and Rosamond.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 24, 1997, at 11 a.m. in the South Jordan, Utah River Ridge LDS Stake Center, 10100 South 1000 West, South Jordan. Family and friends may call Sunday, March 23 at the Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, from 6-8 p.m. and Monday at the church from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Interment, South Jordan City Cemetery.
